Published on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Dias & Riedweg. Possibly Talking About the Same’, MACBA, Barcelona 20.11.2003–01.02.2004. Since 1993, Maurício Dias and Walter Riedweg, from Brazil and Switzerland, respectively, have engaged in collaborative work that explores the relationship between ethics and aesthetics, the individual and the collective, and private and public space, as well as between otherness and perception. Direct audience involvement is one of the primary characteristics of their public art, which ranges from performance to video-installation.
