This handbook is published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Mark Dion: Systema Metropolis', part of the contemporary arts programma of the Natural History Museum, London, 15 June - 2 September 2007. Dion collected samples of soil water from areas in London that represent our contemporary lifestyle, and extracted the living things he found, grouped and identified them with scientists of the museum.
